Monaco Reps is very excited to welcome Fashion Stylist & Creative Director, Marissa Adele to our roster! With clients like Belvedere, Coach & Absolut (just to name a few), Marissa’s work can be seen in advertising campaigns across the globe.

To get to know Marissa a little better, we asked her to fill in some blanks. Check out her responses below, and click here to see her awesome portfolios.

The most important part of an overall look is: attitude. I look at clothing as a physical representation of not only how you feel, but also time, culture, season, even location. In dressing a client, I choose pieces based on personality first; form and function second. When pulling pieces for a shoot, I really like to play with the idea of attitude and pull pieces that will create the overall feeling of the image.

Some of my favorite designers are: Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy, Miuccia Prada, Raf Simons, Alexander McQueen, Iris Van Herpen, Dries Van Noten, Yves Saint Laurent, Coco Chanel, Elsa Schiaparelli, Karl Lagerfeld…

My closet is filled with: vintage, shoes and black!

If I had to name someone as today’s “style icon”, I’d name: I don’t think I could name anyone as today’s style icon because style in general is so diverse. Someone like Chloe Sevigny or Alexa Chung’s style speaks differently than someone like Daphne Guinness. However, all represent iconic styles of right now. I also think some of today’s photographers also play a huge role in style, like Guy Bourdin did in the 70s.

If I weren’t a fashion stylist, I’d be: a very bad painter.

I’m often inspired by: what I see. I can be inspired by the simplicity of someone walking down the street or the complexity of an artist and his or her work. My inspirations almost always come from something I am focusing on at that moment. In looking back on the work I have done, especially my creative projects, I can remember not only what inspired them but the feelings and why they were inspired; it’s my visual diary.

My style advice to the world is: be yourself. Wear what makes you feel like the truest you.*
