Nick Veasey Fashion X-Rayed Exhibition

With Fashion Week around the corner, we thought we would take a look at Nick Veasey’s current exhibition at La Vallee Village on the outskirts of Paris. Nick’s X-Ray art famously uncovers that which is usually obscured from the human eye, and the dichotomy of transparency and fashion makes for more than just eye candy. If you find yourself near the village, head over before September 4, 2011 – that’s the last day of the show. If you are not one of the lucky few taking a trip to the city of lights, check out more of Nick’s work here.

Nick Veasey Exhibition Opens Tonight in Austria

Nick Veasey: X-ray opens tonight at Atelier Jungwirth, in Graz, Austria. New work will be displayed through June at the gallery.

Front and center in the exhibition is a wedding scene as only Nick could envision it – bride and groom are accompanied by a bridesmaid, a tiny flower girl,  and a dancing auntie – the accordion player provides the tunes. Also included in the show is a sampling of his recent marine life project, with highlights including radiographs of a West Indian Sea Egg and a Matha’s Sea Urchin, as well as sand dollars, pearl shells and a crown of thorns sea star. Not to be missed is a small sampling of Nick’s incredible botanical pieces : a triptych displays an ice cap, a dendrobium and an amarylis, they accompany a larger print called Solo Iris.

Perhaps the highlight of the exhibition, however, is a set of musical instruments produced with plate photography – hand printed onto glass, these pieces have gilded frames that give them an air apart from the rest of the work.

From Nick’s blog Radar Ramblings :

Thanks to the formidable efforts of Christian Jungwirth, Birgit Enge and all at the gallery for instigating this exhibition and making a great contribution to support all the hours of work, creating the artworks at Radar Studio.
